Cancer: June 21 – July 22
The intellectual traits of the Gemini balance out the emotion of Cancer.
*If you were born at the beginning or end of the dates for a sign, then you would be “on the cusp” of one of the signs and feel the influence of the other sign.
Ruling Point: The Moon
Element: Water Sign
Like all water signs, Cancer is vulnerable to absorbing toxic energies, so if they are in healing or counseling work of some kind, they need to have cleansing practices. Breathing exercises, saunas, smudging, and protective aura visualizations are all ways the Cancer native can maintain a “psychic shell” to keep their energy clear.

Lucky Day: Sunday
Lucky Numbers: 4, 6, particularly those that start or end with the digits ‘4’ or ‘6.’
This alleged luck stems from the fact that Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac, with its symbol resembling two ‘sixes’ facing each other on opposite ends.

Additional colors include soft colors. Spirit Color: Violet

"Cancer" is an ancient word of Indo-European origin, derived from a root meaning "to scratch". It has been identified as various hard-shelled mythological creatures. In ancient Egypt, the sign of Cancer was conceived as a scarab beetle, while in Mesopotamia it was represented by a turtle. In each case, the animal sign was perceived as "pushing" the sun across the heavens, initiating the summer solstice. In Egyptian belief, it was associated with the scarab, the symbol of immortality. The connection with the afterlife continues into Babylonian culture, where Cancer was thought to be the god that was the guide to the passage through the underworld and death. The Crab makes an appearance in Greek legend, with its part in the tale of Hercules battling the Hydra in the Marsh of Lerna. Karkinos, the Crab, was sent by the goddess Hera, who was not a fan of Hercules, to distract him and give the Hydra an advantage. When Karkinos bites Hercules on the foot, he kills him by cracking his shell. As a reward for risking his life to do Hera’s bidding, Karkinos is placed in the heavens, to shine for eternity. Cancer is said to be the dimmest constellation out of all the zodiacs. However, it was a common belief that its stars are also the Sun’s highest point in the sky for the summer solstice.
What Makes a Cancerian?
Most Cancer signs have been called psychic at some point, and with good reason—Cancer can often sense relationships, ideas, and motivations before anyone has actually spoken. That can make for challenging interactions with this sign—Cancer hates small talk, especially when it contains white lies (like saying, "How nice to see you!" when it's clear that both parties would rather avoid each other). That's why social gatherings can be overwhelming for Cancers. They'd much rather spend time in small groups where everyone is on the same page.
Cancers are amazing! Their name says it all:
C for caring
A for ambitious
N for nourishing
C for creative
E for emotionally intelligent
R for resilient
The Crab’s sense of purpose is all about facilitating and nurturing emotional understanding, expression, and awareness.
Health insight for Cancerians
Cancerians have a tendency to mood swings. Cancer natives can become too clingy, sentimental, and overly retentive of water and other fluids in their bodies. Their tissues can become boggy, lax, and clogged with toxic emotional substances, building up too much and not being cleared. Cancerians, in particular, tend to be doubly phlegmatic, as their planetary ruler, the moon, adds another cold and moist layer to their constitution. As a result, it is important for Cancers to stay warm and active, and to guard against emotional eating that can cause them to feel sluggish. They may, however, have good powers of recuperation and regeneration, and will need lots of sleep to recharge.
P.S. An interesting antidote regarding Cancer
Traditions are upheld with great zest in a Cancer’s household, since, as the rulers of the fourth house of home and memory, this zodiac sign prizes family history and loves communal activities. A Cancer’s good memory is the basis for stories told around the dinner table, and don’t be surprised if these folks get emotional about things. Those born under this sign wear their heart on their sleeve, which is just fine by them.
